As far as personal experience goes, all dissociatives work in this way. I'm not even sure how "plateaus" came to be the standard model for DXM as I myself have never really experienced the drug in this way, or found it to be a useful way of understanding those experiences, which have much more experiential diversity than all that nonsense.
